Application process

All applications are reviewed carefully by our Recruitment Executive and our Training Partner. We adopt a blind screening process.

If you would like to be considered for one of our 2020 training contracts please apply online for either our Summer Vacation Scheme or our Open Day.

Summer Vacation Scheme: 9th – 20th July 2018

If your application is successful you will be invited to an interview with our Recruitment Executive. Please note applications are reviewed on a rolling basis therefore interviews may take place prior to the application deadline. We can be flexible as to dates.

8 successful candidates will be invited to attend our Summer Vacation Scheme. During the two weeks you will experience work in two of the firm's departments under the direction of leading practitioners. You will be given tests to complete and will have an interview with two of our partners.

This interview will form the final stage of our training contract recruitment process and successful candidates will be offered a 2020 training contract.

Open Day: 24th July 2018

If your application is successful you will be invited to an interview with our Recruitment Executive. Please note applications are reviewed on a rolling basis therefore interviews may take place prior to the application deadline. We can be flexible as to dates.

The second stage is the Open Day, where you will find out more about our firm and culture and will take part in group and individual assessments.

A shortlist of candidates from the Open Day will be invited to the final stage of the training contract recruitment process - an interview with two of our partners. Successful candidates will be offered a 2020 training contract.

Interview formats

First stage interview with our Recruitment Executive – this will be competency-based.

Final stage interview with two of our partners – the partners will be chosen from our Trainee Recruitment Team. This interview will also be competency-based but will be slightly more in depth and will test your commercial awareness.

All interviews are held at our London Bridge office.

Hints and tips for applying

  • Please make sure you check your application for grammar and spelling mistakes
  • Try to make your application stand out from the crowd by highlighting your skills and achievements inside and out of university. This is your chance to sell yourself!
  • Think about why you really want to work for Winckworth Sherwood rather than any other law firm and make sure that this comes across in your application
  • Try to apply before the deadline as we do review applications on a rolling basis
